Our Bodies, Our Minds, Our Planet: Launch of The Bloomsbury Handbook to the Medical-Environmental Humanities. Co-Edited by Dr.Vidya Sarveswaran, Associate Professor of Literary Studies at the School of Liberal Arts.

As a part of the celebration of the Environmental Humanities month, The Bloomsbury Handbook to the Medical Environmental Humanities was launched on October 30th online at the University of Helsinki. Dr.Vidya Sarveswaran, Associate Professor of Literary Studies at the School of Liberal Arts is one of the editors of this new volume ,which represents the first collection to bring the environmental humanities and medical humanities into conversation in a systematic way.

Bringing together two parallel and occasionally intersecting disciplines – the environmental and medical humanities, this field-defining handbook reveals our ecological predicament to be a simultaneous threat to human health.Touching  on issues and approaches such as narrative medicine, ecoprecarity, toxicity, mental health, and contaminated environments, the book showcases  a rich spectrum of issues and methodologies, looks not only at where research currently is at the intersection of these two important fields, but also at where it is going.
